Stolen Cow.

Today I started looking through back issues of the Tallow Light from 1968. At this moment I do not know which articles I am going to feature, but this notice from the Marietta Register simply has to be reprinted now:

On the 5th Inst., a worthless woman stole a cow from the enclosure of Calvin Finch, below Harmar, and drover her down the river road four miles and succeeded in selling her to a citizen for $27. Two days later she was resold for $30 to a man on Little Hocking. On the 17th, Mr. Finch recovered his cow.
— Marietta Register 1868

Nothing I can come up with at this moment would be better than the story, lost in time, behind this notice.
